General Secretary's Office
The General Secretary's Office is responsible for developing and maintaining data pertaining to ministers and churches within the General Council. The General Secretary also oversees the credentialing of ministers, the chartering of churches, the collection of official statistics, and the ever-growing Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center.

John M. Palmer was elected general secretary of the Assemblies of God at the 52nd General Council in August 2007. By virtue of his office John is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Presbytery.
John, and his wife, Debbie, have three children: Amy, married to Jeremy Baker (residing in Memphis, Tennessee), Jonathan (a junior at North Central University), and Bethany (a high school senior). They also have one adorable grandson, Grant.
Prior to coming to this office, John served as founding co-pastor of New Life Assembly in Athens, Ohio (1974 — 1985) and as senior pastor of First Assembly of God, Des Moines, Iowa (1985 — 2006). He loves coaching pastors and coming alongside congregations, assisting them as they seek to fulfill Christ's mission to go into "all the world and make disciples of every nation."
